i'm not a fan of the wells/cano picks, but thats about all i dont like on this team. i dont care much for wells but at the 36th pick you probably had to take him. i like your squad of pitchers though, they should serve you well. just find an reliever and you should be fine.

I wasn't a big fan of Vernon Wells going into the draft either, but I had mentally comitted myself to drafting another OF'er with the 3rd or 4th pick, and he was the best available. Cano I have absolutely no exuse for, especially considering that Iguchi wasn't drafted until something like the 12th+ round.
way to early for cano, other than that, i like the team. look to improve your RP by maybe packaging blalock and a RP, you have no need for blalock with cabrera @ 3rd and thome @ util. i really like your SP as well. high risk/reward.
Not a bad team at all. Not sure you really have a place for Blalock though... might see if anyone needs a 3b badly enough to take him in a trade. You could use a little more depth at SP.
Manny/Cabrera is nice. You do need some RP for saves though. Get a closer.

Not to pile on, but there is no excuse for Cano in round 4, anything before round 7 is a stretch, since he's not much better then the crowd behind him, that pick shows in your relief corps and lack of pitching depth, had you grabbed a closer there, you'd be much better off.
Down 3, 8 straight.....The 2004 World Series Champions. The "Idiots". some gone, none forgotten.
I love the 12th pick. You get back to back picks so there are quite a number of things you can do.
You can start runs on positions.
Examples:
Johan Santana & Carpenter get picked ahead of you. You follow it up with Peavy & Zambrano. Then watch people panic.
You can grab 2 OFs, SPs, RPs, etc and fill a roster need quickly while others have to wait and hope their guy isnt taken.
Mainly starting runs on positions you KNOW people need to fill is my favorite tactic because theyre forced to grab lesser players of the same position or miss out. Every time they grab the players you want, is a time theyre not grabbing the players you need. And if they dont bend to your will then this happens:
Carpenter, Zambrano, Webb, Schilling, Harden... and my batting didnt suffer too much cus of it.
So either you be a good little boy and make a run at a position, or you say "ill show him" and I get an uber lineup instead.
