Vetoable Trade?

Postby thegilby » Thu Mar 01, 2007 3:35 am

Hi all, this trade came through and I'm kind of concerned...

Team 1 gets: Utley, Swisher, F. Cordero, Prior
Team 2 gets: Delgado, Cano, Kazmir, C. Young (SD)

Rounds the players were drafted:

Team 1 gets: 1, 8, 13, 19
Team 2 gets: 4, 5, 6, 9

Anyone else have any opinions?

I'd rather be Team 1, but I don't think it's vetoable. In fact, I would have rather been Team 2 before the draft, but I would have drafted differently :-)

I wouldn't veto either, it's close enough.

agree with the consensus here.

as a general rule i don't veto unless i suspect collusion between the managers or it's obvious one of the managers is getting played and really doesn't know what he's doing. if it's pretty close and both managers have legitimate reasons for doing the trade then let it go, even if it might seem lopsided...

Team 1 is winning that trade by more than most are suggesting but it is hard to veto it. If you want to look at it by draft position it is pretty bad. I doubt many people would want to trade 4,5,6 for 1st rounder and 13 rounders which is essentially what happened. In the end you let them have it rewarding them for working out a smart deal and try and take advantage of the dumb team yourself.

I don't seen anything at all wrong with that trade. Perhaps team 2 really needs starting pitching help and has enough offense to absorb the loss of Utley. Cano is still a top 2B in his own right so that softens the blow as well. Absolutely no reason to veto this. And I agree that trades should only be vetoed when it is obvious that one team is purposely dumping its best players (and that is even harder to determine in a keeper league where lopsided trades at midseason are common). Why would anyone do that before the season starts?

I think it's a very even trade actually.
