when bonus makes up a significant amount of your total pay, you really get a good picture of how bad you're getting gouged by taxes. After setting aside the 401(k) takeout, I got whacked 45% on the remainder! I better be getting some of that back next year, too bad it won't be with interest. Bastards.

It's hard to imagine a reasonable democracy could believe that it is entitled to nearly half of your income. After you get done paying sales taxes, wheel taxes, etc, you easily pay over half your income to the Government.

I get a very nice bonus every year around Christmas, and I usually lose 47% of it every year. It always pains me to turn the check over and see all the huge deductions.
The trouble with having your own business is that there is nobody to withhold taxes for you and you have to pay it all at the end of the year. It looks I'm going to have to take out a loan to pay my taxes this year. Soooo I will be paying interest on the money that I am paying the government for taxes.
Don't worry fellas, all the money we're paying into SS will be there for us when we retire.
