ESPN News wrote:The Angels reportedly have started to revamp their pitching staff.

They have signed free agent Kelvim Escobar to a three-year, $18.75 million contract, sources close to the pitcher told the Toronto Star on Friday.

The Blue Jays had reportedly offered the right-hander a two-year, $10 million contract.

"I think all along they [Escobar and his agent Peter Greenberg] wanted to test the free-agent market," Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi told the Sun. "And he's earned that right. If he has moved on, there will be no hard feelings."

And the Angels may not be close to done. Earlier in the week, Bartolo Colon's agent told the Los Angeles Times that Anaheim was one of five teams in the running to sign the talented hurler.

Escobar went 13-9 with a 4.29 ERA while striking out 159 hitters and walking 78 last season.

Serving as the Jays' closer in 2002, Escobar had 38 saves. He has a lifetime record of 58-55 with 58 saves and a 4.58 ERA.

What were his stats as a starter? I know they were good, but that's the extent of my knowledge.

Well, so far he isn't performing up to my expectations. Now I'm rooting for Percival to retire and the Angels to move Escobar to the closer role. Ugh.
