Switching from daily to weekly

Thanks for the great site! This has been a valuable resource.

We go H2H in a 5x5 category league on CBS Sportsline. Total of 10 points("games") can be won. We are getting old and having kids and such, so we've decided to switch from daily roster tinkering to a total weekly format. My question is, how are trades handled this way? If a trade goes through in the middle of the week, how are rosters affected, since they won't be able to make adjustments until the week/period has ended?

Also...anyone use the automatic bidding process for add/drop players? That sounds interesting. We use waivers now, but I like the idea of making them use a budget when picking guys up. Can anyone describe what that process is like? I'd hate to just do it blindly this season without having any idea how it works.
