Trading draft picks...

Curious what people think about this.

I have a person in my draft this year who has traded the number 2 pick in the draft, his 3rd round pick, and a 5th round pick for the 10th pick in the draft, and this other owner's 2nd and 3rd round picks. Does this make any sense whatsoever maybe I can't see it.

I understand that he gets an additional pick in the 2nd round but what kind of advantage is he really getting?

This deal actually makes alot of sense. Why?? Because after Albert Pujols, there is no defintitave #2 pick. It may be the worst spot to be in. I've seen different mock drafts or rankings that feature MCab, ARod, Johan, Reyes, Howard, Ortiz, ect. at the 2nd overall postition. Why not take the 10th pick and get the same or close production as a #2??? Basically, he is trading his 10th round pick for an extra 2nd round one, or really close to it.

I guess I should clarify that I'm in a points league. There is quite a difference between getting a 700+ player with the #2 pick in the draft and 600+ player with the 10th pick.

#2 and #10 are pretty much the same this year.

I would definately rather have the 8-10 pick than #2.
05worldserieschamps is right, that's the worst spot to draft this year.

I agree with what the other two said. The second pick is a tough spot to draft. This year, you could get just as good of a pick in the last part of the first round as the early part.

yeah thats a money trade. Like the others said, there is no difference between picks 2-10ish this year.

I would rather pick last then 2nd this year, and almost any year. Pujols is the only reason to stay at the front.

I agree with the majority. I have had the 10th pick twice one league was 12 teams the other 13...In both I had Vlad, Hafner, Manny, Beltran, and Wright available...In the other all of them plus Crawford was on the board. I would rather get 2 of those guys (because I will on the swing back) than an AROD/Howard/Ortiz/MCAB and a Holliday/Bay/Jeter etc...
