Looking at the projections today on MLB's Fantasy preview, I noticed they lowered Ryan Howards projections quite a bit off last years numbers. They shaved his Ave by 20 points, his HR's by 13 and his RBI's by 28.. Does anyone else think he will hit in the low .290's and take a pretty good hit with his HR's and RBI's?
Howard, I think, is one of the biggest wildcards of this season. I don't think I've seen any two people agree upon what to expect for Howard.
Personally (it's gonna look like a homer thing, but so be it), I think he's gonna be just fine. DOn't expect 58 HRs, but 48, 49 for sure. He'll get pitched around sometimes, which will lower his HR total right there.
Some people are projecting him too low, which means, dare I say, some first round value if he falls to you.
I see him as coming close to last years numbers. Id pull the RBI's back a smidge and the Ave a little, but not alot, but to the tune of..305 AVE, 51 HR, 125 RBI... Also below is what HQ and Luciani project for him (whom I personally follow closely)
They're being safe. Who projects 60 HR's? Most predictions I find are 'safe' projections, close to what the guy did last year or the mean for the position. He could hit 60, but nobody will project him there.
