ARod's Opt-Out Clause

Moved and merged into the thread in the Mets forum.

I think Arod moving to 2B is more "likely". Not that I actually think Arod will opt out of his contract since he will be giving away a lot of money.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

why not having a-rod play one of the corner OF spots since wright could wind up being a way better defense player than a-rod is right now...plus is soriano who made so man errors can play the OF than i think a-rod can too

I didn't want A-Rod a few years ago when the Mets had the chance for the same reason the Mets didn't want him.... the entire team would revolve around him and we wouldn't really get to appreciate the dynamic of youngsters Wright/Reyes or give Beltran his chance to shine last year.

That said, I think A-Rod's time with the Yanks was a humbling experience for him; but Boras is still his agent and whose to say that NY isn't just NY? Plus, the Mets would not move Wright or Reyes... I think that would be dumb, and I just don't see A-Rod moving to 2B at this point in his career. SS to 3B is one thing, but the other side of the infield is a whole different ballgame.

I say, let a small market club duke it out for him. We have all the offense we need.
