Are you talking about when Detroit and Cleveland traded managers. I think jimmy dykes went detroit to cleveland and joe gordon went from cleveland to detroit.

I will accept the Cubs even though you got the timing incorrect.

Chicago Cubs owner Philip Wrigley sat down with manager Phil Cavrretta near the end of Spring Training in 1954 and asked him to honestly assess the team. Cavarretta was blunt and honest and paid for it with his job (evidently he told Wrigley that the team sucked ). Wrigley fired him for having a negative attitude and the Cubs became the first team to voluntarily change managers in Spring Training. Stan Hack was named manager
