I just made a trade that gives me the top pick in our entry draft (which is basically the same thing as the MLB's first year players draft). I made the trade to hopefully land David Price. I've heard comparrisons to Mark Prior and also Jim Callis (BA) likes him more then Andrew Miller who he ranked really high on his top 50 list. My question is what do you guys think of David Price?

I traded 3rd,4th, and 12th overall for the 1st overall pick. I still have 7th, 10th, 14th, and 18th overall.

It's a 10 team dynasty league. I already have the likes of Hughes, Bailey, Lincecum, Miller on my minor league staff.

I want to build a solid farm system of good young arms.

Any thoughts?

Is he a legit Mark Prior type pitcher? Where can I find in season stats of college players? Did I pay to much with a 3,4 and 12 pick overall?

Here are college stats http://www.ncaa.org/stats/baseball/baseballMenu.html

I don't know if would have given up 3, 4, and 12th picks. There are usually at least 3-4 impact players in every rule draft. For instance last year: Hochevar, Andrew Miller, Lincecum, Clayton Kershaw, Evan Longoria, Travis Snider, and Bill Rowell.

I mean Price is probably better than any of those guys (except for Longoria), but still. I guess it comes down to how good Price is and how stacked this class is, and we won't know that for a couple of months.

I still have the #7,10 picks in the top 10. I guess the reason I did this is because since day one in my dynasty league I've been trying to put together a strong pitching staff. I don't have any "veterns" all my pitchers are young and I thought David Price would be a great fit with these guys.

Pro Team: Kazmir, Hernandez, Cain, Hamels, Billingsley
Minors: Hughes, Bailey, Lincecum, Gallardo, Andrew Miller, Adam Miller, Pelfrey, Kershaw, Garza, Elbert, Adenhart...

It's a 10 team league.

I just thought adding Price to an already impressive group was a good thing to do...

I really really hope Price proves to be worth what I paid.

Thanks for the stats.

eh... Jim Callis listed Price as the 17th best pitching prospect right behind Veal on his list.

Andrew Miller was 5th...

I guess you do have enough picks to make this worthwhile. At some point you can have too many decent talent players and not enough true blue-chippers. I would pay real attention to Baseball Americas coverage of the rule four draft to see who you should take at one.
