Whitaker joins Tiger ranks
Former Detroit great will serve as an instructor

DETROIT -- Lou Whitaker and Alan Trammell are back as a Tigers duo, if only for Spring Training.
After making a brief guest appearance last spring, Whitaker will join the coaching ranks this coming camp as a Spring Training instructor.

"We are all excited to have Lou as part of the Tigers family," manager Alan Trammell said. "He's one of the Tigers' all-time greats and to have him in camp is invaluable."

It's also another former Tigers star player that Trammell has talked back into the organization. A year ago, the manager talked Kirk Gibson into becoming his bench coach while adding fellow ex-teammate Lance Parrish as bullpen coach.

I really believe that the Detroit coaching staff could win more games than the team.... :-b
