Have I leaned too heavily on SBs?

I did a Yahoo draft this morning, and I worry that the strategy I chose after the first 5 or 6 rounds were done wasn't as smart as it seemed at the time. It's a public Yahoo league, standard everything, 12 teams, 5x5 rotisserie. I picked 7th.

What happened was I noticed that the heavy hitters were being drafted much earlier than I anticipated, and the speedsters were sticking around longer, so I started grabbing guys who could contribute SBs (I normally lean towards the power hitters instead). And in the late rounds some good SB guys like Dave Roberts were just sitting there and I took them as well. So here is my team, in the order I drafted them.

1. C Utley 2B
2. L Berkman 1B/OF
3. R Oswalt SP
4. B Abreu OF
5. P Konerko 1B
6. J Pierre OF
7. B Roberts 2B (couldn't let him sit there any longer, despite having Utley)
8. R Zimmerman 3B
9. T Saito RP
10. B Wickman RP
11. B Arroyo SP
12. C Patterson OF
13. M Gonzalez RP
14. E Santana SP
15. D Roberts OF
16. J Posada C
17. R Clemens SP
18. M Barrett C
19. A Gordon 3B
20. J Peralta SS
21. T Tulowitzki SS

My question is, have I gone too far towards winning the SB category that I've lost too much power? And by picking up so many SB guys have I left my pitching staff too slim?

Going by last year's SB stats, I'd be ahead of the #2 SB team by almost 50 SBs.

Yeah, this was a little heavy on the SBs and light on everything else. But, all those steals will have people knockin on the door half way through the season.

I hope so. If I can get far enough ahead in the SB category by trade deadline, I'll gladly ship off one or two of them for a power hitter. I'm not too worried about pitching, as I can usually grab people off of the wire.

You need to shop speed now before the season starts you are lacking in power numbers,should not be hard to do. Roberts is the 2nd best 2nd baseman in a weak position so you should get good return for him. Good luck!!!

I've offered Brian Roberts and Ervin Santana for Julio Lugo and Jason Schmidt. It gives him some more steals, which he badly needs, and upgrades my pitching a bit. The main thing that I could use Lugo at SS and then dump Peralta for another SP off the wire. Now to look for an OF somewhere...

I've also offered Dave Roberts and Michael Barrett to a guy who didn't draft a catcher, for Frank Thomas (who he will almost never use because he's got Hafner at UTIL already and Carlos Quentin). I don't know if he'll have any interest, but it's worth a try.

That's not a bad trade for you. You still get some SBs w/Lugo and an upgrade at pitcher. I'm sure the offers will come to you once people scour the waivers and cannot find quality SBs. Good luck!

Here's an update:

I dumped Tulowitzki and grabbed Kevin Millwood off of the wire to bolster my pitching squad and dropped Dave Roberts for Chad Tracy, who another owner dropped in favour of Brandon Inge (I don't get it, but his loss is my gain... maybe he doesn't care about batting average?)

Now, another owner has dropped Mark Teahan, who will be OF-eligible once the season's been going for a week or two, so should I grab him as well? I'm not really sure who to dump to do it... Would a Teahan with 3B/Of eligibility be better than 3B only Tracy? I know I've juiced my power numbers a bit with Tracy, but it's not a big boost.
