SS dilemma

Postby phr3ak » Fri Feb 23, 2007 8:48 pm

After Reyes there is probably nothing worthy of taking till the 3rd tound. If I pass on the likes of Jeter, Hanley, Young, Furcal, Guillen I was thinking of picking up other options, considering that different from Reyes, these other SS are not going to create huge impact on the lineup. Maybe waiting on Peralta, Greene or Crosby would be wiser (leaning towards more on Peralta) or even go deeper waiting the later rounds for Tulowitzki. I think its a better option to pick on these guys cuz the production between the highers ones wont be as much different as the one a Peralta might put. Position scarcity might sometimes be deceiving and make you take decisions that in the long run could hurt more than help.

Also I was wondering if putting Stephen Drew on equal value as Peralta, Crosby or Greene would be a wise thing to do.

Thanks.

I think Hanley is worth more in the 3rd round than Reyes in the 1st. They were comparable in everything except RBI last year.

Peralta is a good sleeper this year IMO, although I would want someone else as insurance behind him.

I would want someone else too, but I would want them in front of him, or at least in competition. I guess it wouldn't be bad to also draft a Tulo or Stephen Drew to compete (and/or mix and match). I personally think Carlos Guillen is underrated though, he nearly went 20/20 last year and no one cares!

I think F. Lopez, Renteria and Cabrerra could be had late........all pretty decent options.
