Want to Play Fantasy Baseball 365 days a Year?

Postby fhomess » Fri Feb 23, 2007 6:39 pm

I've been playing Out of the Park Baseball for the past 3 years over 4 different versions and like to let people know about what I consider one of the best sports games on the market.

Anyway, the latest version is now available for pre-order over at http://www.ootpbaseball.net/.

OOTP2007 is a simulation game that lets you create your own baseball universes, take control of a team from the front office perspective, and then simulate your way to baseball bliss. You can play solo or join one of the many online leagues to play against other live owner/GM's. The user support is tremendous and the forum community is highly active. I encourage you to go check it out.

Some friends of mine just joined one of these leagues last month and they seem to be pretty into it. They were trying to get me to join but I'm already in a few fantasy leagues so I didn't want to commit to joining another league in case I don't find the time to manage it. Still, once the MLB season has ended, I'm sure I'll give it a try. I saw the league set up and interface and it looked pretty cool. ;-D

There's two things I love most about OOTP:
1. The time frame can be sped up so you can enjoy far more than just 1 season of baseball in 1 season of real time.
2. The fact that you can play all year round.

I was into OOTP baseball as recently as about two years ago, and have been playing it since OOTP3. I've found that the games have been getting progressively poorer, and the customer service and game support has gone from what used to be phenomenal to what is now complete and utter trash.

If you can get a fun group of guys who are friends via the net and run a net league though, that's where the maximum amount of fun lies.

The 2006 version was horrid. Which was very disappointing because the one before that was excellent.

I don't know how the 2007 version will pan out so I will wait until after it is released.

Has anyone else tried Baseball Mogul 2008? I gave it a shot and it seems pretty good.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Very addicting. Which is a good thing I guess, it's a fun game. ;D
