While they didn't commit to it, the Giants are likely to bring up 2006 first-round pick Tim Lincecum to make his major league debut Sunday.
He's replace the injured Russ Ortiz. "We're still talking about it but we're expecting him to make that start," manager Bruce Bochy said. "This is a tough kid who handled himself well in spring training. He'll be fine if it turns out to be him." Linecum is 4-0 with an 0.29 ERA at Fresno. He should be owned in all formats, and it'd worth using him in fantasy leagues right away.
May 3 Henry Schulman, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports there are strong signs the San Francisco Giants will call up SP Tim Lincecum from Triple-A Fresno in time to start the club's contest Sunday, May 6, against the Philadelphia Phillies. Lincecum would be called up to start in place of SP Russ Ortiz (elbow).
Wow, Sunday night, ESPN, Primetime, vs Cole Hamels. I am definately looking forward to this. Of course it's sweet being an owner of both Cole and Lincecum.
Hal·la·day, n. 1. every fifth day in Philadelphia. 2. a day of rest for the bullpen. 3. innings eater. 4. doc. 5. ace.
Yoda, thanks it's been helpful that you've been providing updates so consistently. I signed up to have a Google watch sent to my email for Lincecum news, but I found out about the call-up here first, of course! Grabbed Lincecum in my leagues well ahead of the call-up too. Hope he pans out as expected, I'm excited he's gotten the call.

Thanks. Last time I drafted a pitcher out of college with no/limited pro experience was Mark Prior before Lincecum. And I think Lincecum has better stuff so I've been extremely high on him. Here is hoping that he pans out.
