Current draft keeper team

Postby firemanx » Fri Feb 23, 2007 3:09 pm

This is my standard 5x5 keeper league team. We get to keep 7 players each yr.

Hitters
C -
1B - Ryan Howard
2B - Josh Barfield
3B - Troy Glaus
SS -
OF - Johnny Damon
OF - Bobby Abreu
OF - Vernon Wells

Pitchers
SP - Justin Verlander
SP - Roy Halladay
SP - Rich Harden

RP - Brian Fuentes

which postion do you think i should go after next? I'm thinking SS, but best guys left are O Cab, Edgar Renteria, Bobby Crosby, and Johnonny Peralta. I also have the option to play Glaus @ SS which would be decent, and grab Scot Rolen, Eric Chavez, or Joe Crede, and then pick up a future SS in Troy Tulowitzki or JJ Hardy.

I'd put Glaus at SS and pick up Scott Rolen with your next pick.

Then you need to look at your pitching, and get your 2nd closer and some more starting pitching.

I would play Glaus at SS and make Crede my next pick, still some upside to him, entering his age 29 season, 30 jacks last year, whats not to like. We've seen the Scott Rolen peak, don't take the gamble, then yes, look to grab a SS of the future late on, Brandon Wood type.

you mention about Crede, but what about his injuries. Do you think they will linger into this yr. Also with him only having one yr left on his contract he could be dealt to let Josh Fields into the mix.

Eric Chavez and Hank Blalock are both available. Would one of them be a better pick then Crede?

last draft pick i grabbed AJ Burnett so the roster now looks like this

Hitters
C -
1B - Ryan Howard
2B - Josh Barfield
3B - Troy Glaus (SS Eligible)
SS -
OF - Johnny Damon
OF - Bobby Abreu
OF - Vernon Wells

Pitchers
SP - Justin Verlander
SP - Roy Halladay
SP - Rich Harden
SP - AJ Burnett

RP - Brian Fuentes

Also forgot to mention my minor league system which is Dice K, Joey Votto, and Carlos Gonzalez

with my next two picks im looking at Edwin Encarnacion, Hank Blalock, or Eric Chavez. Then either Bob Wickman, Jose Valverde, Tom Gordon or Todd Jones

Throw Glaus at short and throw Crede in at 3rd. You might want Rolen, but Crede really started to come into his own last year. Crede will be solid and will be better than any of hose other SS out there and no question better than all 3B besides Rolen (close).
