It will likely take a trade but the offensive potential is surely there. he obviously has no place in Arizona with them being set at most offensive positions. Many people compared this guy to Jeff Kent while he was playing 2B. Not a great fielder but he has a fine bat and has nothing else at all to prove in the minors.

Well deep is a good name for it. I just don't see how he gets the playtime to put up any significant value on a team with so many young players looking for AB's. Granted arizona is the most overrated team in baseball going into this season (except for maybe the Cubs and Tigers) but thats because after Webb their pitching is going to stink (sorry RJ is not healthy, Davis and Livan are just not very good), but their hitting depth is for real and I find it hard to envision Hairston getting much playtime.

I dont' really see a good match for a trade with him either, they are pretty set for players all over the place so the only trade that makes much sense is for a more established backup C or a bullpen arm.
