Rangers sign IF Fox to a minor league contract
November 17, 2003
ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) - Veteran infielder Andy Fox signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers on Monday.
Fox hit .194 in 70 games while playing every infield position and left field for the World Series champion Florida Marlins in 2003 but was left off the playoff roster.
"Andy Fox is a versatile player who has played on winning teams throughout his career," Texas general manager John Hart said. "He has a real opportunity to play a role for the 2004 Rangers."
The 32-year-old Fox made postseason appearances with the New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks before joining the Marlins in 2001.
Fox owns .244 batting average with 29 homers and 167 RBI in 730 career games with Florida, New York and Arizona.

A 32 year old .244 career hitter?!
What?!
That's almost as bad as if we sign Jose Cruz Jr.
