I could never get into this show; it's a great concept and could be really awesome. Plus it's cool to see how the guy breaks into the houses, but one hour is too long... it's mostly the people saying those things.
I would watch just because it would be on after Cash Cab or How It's Made; both of which are superior to It Takes a Thief.
I really like this show. I agree when they start crying its just stupid and fake, but other than that its a pretty cool show. Just the concept of having an ex-robber kind of interests me. Also they always put a lot of high-tech security stuff in their homes which is pretty cool.

How It's Made is cool, especially when it's a food-centric episode

How It's Made is my new favorite show. The other day they made baseball bats and trombones
I like it. I cut the rope in my garage that hangs on the door because I have windows on my garage door. Now, they can't break the glass, release the door, and lift. They can still break other glass, but at least they won't do that one.

Here these famalies "Volunteer" to be on this show. Then when they are robbed they say things like
"Oh my god he has no soul"
or
"I can't believe they took my diamonds"
and they watch with shock and awe as the theif, who they knew was going to be there, steals there stuff, which they knew would be stolen.

I've watched the show a few times and I'm pretty much in the same boat as you.
One of the episodes I remember is where they break into the families house and steal this guys prized car that only the man and his father had driven in. The man really did look like he was on the verge of attacking the thief. The whole time I'm wondering, why are they so mad? They know it's going to happen and I'm pretty sure the show replaces/fixes anything they mess up.
