In my league, our keepers go by the round they were drafted last year and we get to keep three. I'm keeping Harang in the 17th rnd (12-team league), after he was 5th in SP points. How does everyone think he'll do this season? Better? Worse? Same?
I wouldn't keep him if you only get to keep three. I know he looks tempting with that draft slot, but I think (especially with a small number of keepers) that you need to keep your best players, regardless of draft spot.
yeah but we don't get to draft in the round we keep the player, so say i wanted to keep vlad in the 1st, that means i wouldn't get a draft pick that round....harang's value seems really good only forfeitting a 17th rnd pick
That's a no-brainer. As for how he does, I'd put him somewhere in the 14W, 205K, 220+Inn, 3.8ERA. If your league gives points for innings, CG, and QS like mine does, he's a huge bargain that most people under-value.
I'm guessing he regresses slightly (but not to 2005) such that he falls in the middle of the two - 220 IP/3.80/1.27/14W/190 K.
The key will be his HR allowed at home. If he keeps that under control, he should be solid again. Should definitely be better than your average 17th round SP.

sluggers, I am in a league similar to what you described. I have Olsen in round 14 and will kepp him. I have Jered Weaver in round 22 and will keep him. Plus Zumaya in round 19.
So Harang is great value in round 17.

Sure, good value at 17th round, but by that point in the draft I almost assume take a flyer on a rookie or someone with a couple of off-seasons with solid production in the past.
