Best Baseball Game for PS2?

Postby Doughhead » Wed Feb 21, 2007 1:24 pm

I haven't invested in a baseball game for a few years and I figured you guys would probably have some advice on which one is likely to be the best for the upcoming season. (Sorry in advance if this is the wrong forum...)

Well, I have an xbox 360, but in my experience the major league baseball 2k series is the best across the board. You'll be surprised at the rankings of teams (the mariners were 8th overall last year), but the gameplay, graphics and overall quality is awesome. In fact, I like it so much that I pre-ordered it and jsut got an email that it's shipping earlier than normal. Swa-eet.

MVP Baseball 05 was great it was made by EA
The only down side now is the rosters are dated.

Gameplay wise this is the best but having to update the rosters could be a problem. I haven't played 06 The Show but I heard all great things about that game.

I really liked the show

some random glitches that you will see in any other game but the gameplay is pretty smooth and the graphics are one of a kind

get MLB 07 The Show I guarantee it will be worth the price

I still start up a franchise on mvp 05 every now and than. It's fun to use players that either aren't good now or aren't even in the league anymore and do well. Shingo Takatsu is a beast! :-D

I really liked MVP except for the fact that the graphics were cartoonish, I have no clue why they went in that direction, you can just look at 2k7's graphics this year and understand how great it can feel to play a game simply on how emersive the graphics can be. Also the player rankings were kind of odd, just bars filled up to a certain point, made it hard to get an idea of what a player was rated, who was rated more highly than another guy, and if the players rating made any improvement over the season. Then of course the no personality of bad commentary and very lacking in the presentation deparment.

Other than that, the trading was more realistic, the gameplay was less buggy and smoother, as well as minor leagues and better CPU Franchise AI.

I wish they could slap some 2k prenstation and graphics on an MVP game, and start rating players from 1-100, and I'd have my dream game.
