Double-Up Yahoo League
As I was trolling though the list of Yahoo league's to join, I noticed a number of "one team" leagues, where you pick a MLB team and use just that team's players for your fantasy team. It's a nice concept and works out well if you get in early and grab up the Yankees or the Red Sox, but kind of sucks if you get stuck with the Royals(no disrespect to Royals fans, but let's face it, it's gonna be a long summer. Anyway, I though a good way to even out the field would be to pair up good teams with bad teams, and have an owner's fantasy team consist of players from both those teams. That way you have to take the good with the bad and the playing field is a bit more even. So, taking the Regular season standings from 2006, I have paired up one AL team with one NL team from opposite ends of the standings(since there are two more NL teams than AL, we have one team combo comprised of both NL teams who come from the middle of the 2006 NL standings). The team combos are as follows(with combined 2006 win total in parenthesis followed by top 3 playes according to Yahoo's Big Board).
Yankees-Cubs(163)..Alfonso Soriano..Alex Rodriguez..Derek Jeter

Mets-Devil Rays(158)...Jose Reyes..Carlos Beltran..Carl Crawford

White Sox-Rockies(166)...Matt Holliday..Jermaine Dye..Garrett Atkins
Cardinals-Indians(161)...Albert Pujols..Travis Hafner..Grady Sizemore
TAKEN
Angels-Diamondbacks(165)...Vladimir Guerrero..Chone Figgins..Brandon Webb
TAKEN
Astros-Rangers(162)...Lance Berkman..Mark Teixeira..Carlos Lee
Blue Jays-Giants(163)...Vernon Wells..Roy Halladay..Troy Glaus
Reds-Red Sox(166)...David Ortiz..Manny Ramirez..Adam Dunn

Braves-Marlins(157)...Miguel Cabrera..Hanley Ramirez..Andruw Jones
Fantasy team names,as well, will fall under this format, so if your team consists of Blue Jays and Giants players, they can either be know as the Toronto Giants or San Francisco Blue Jays(your choice).
The other problem I've noticed in my years of Fantasy Baseball, is that some owners seems to lose interest after awhile(March to September is a loooooong time when your team is in the crapper). In a effort to remedy this, the Double-Up league will have a 7 round mid-season draft so all the players on teams not initially chosen at the start of the league can be entered into the league. The order will be by inverse order of standing(worst to first) and flip-flop after each round. This league will only be a ten team league, so that leaves 10 MLB who won't have players represented in the league during the first half, but will be eligible to be drafted at mid-season.
This will be a rotisserie league, not a head-to-head league. I've always been a fan of head-to-head leagues, but there always seems to be someone who drops out at the last minute and then your scrambling to find someone to fill their place so your league has an even bnumber of teams. Going rotisserie eliminates that problem.
So, there it is. If you are interested, or have any questions just post them in this thread. If you are ready to go, just let me know which team combo you want. You may want to give me a back-up as well, because I am posting this on more than one board, and someone may get the combo you want on another board.
