Analysis needed going into keeper draft

Postby RockChalk09 » Mon Feb 19, 2007 3:09 pm

My league is a slightly tweaked Yahoo, 5x5, 10-team keeper. We are allowed to bring back 6 each year.

Here is my ending roster: J. Posada, K. Youkilis, C. Utley, C. Blake, M. Tejada, M. Ramirez, R. Baldelli, H. Matsui, M. DeRosa, J. Gomes, M. Ordonez, C. Crawford, K. Escobar, Chr. Young, B. Meadows, D. Turnbow, O. Hernandez, J. Moyer, R. Harden, C. Zambrano, R. Halladay, B. Colon

Here are my keeper picks: C. Utley, M. Tejada, M. Ramirez, C. Crawford, C. Zambrano, & R. Halladay.

My league has a tendency to undervalue pitching, but I have a feeling there will be a grab for them early in the draft. I'm drafting fourth in a rotisserie format (ten teams). Any suggestions or constructive criticism?
I appreciate any and all suggestions on my roster.

Thanks -- I did some analysis on the other teams (projecting who I think they'll pick). I know Webb, Teixeira, Howard will be out of the picture for sure, Oswalt & Sheets are probably nots, but Billy is a maybe.

Here are the other teams keepers as I see them now:

Team 1, spent the whole year at the bottom & doesn't follow baseball too closely:

A. Rodriguez
L. Berkman
B. Zito
G. Atkins
J. Rollins
B. Fuentes, B. Lidge, C. Guillen, C. Ray

Team 2, he spent the end of the year trading up & tanking-- VERY high baseball IQ:

A. Pujols
D. Wright
J. Bay
J. Pierre
C. Beltran
M. Teixeira

Team 3, not an involved player & doesn't have a high baseball IQ (may be replaced):

D. Lee
R. Furcal
An. Jones
C. Carpenter
Fr. Rodriguez
R. Ibanez, B. Jenks, T. Gordon, C. Sabathia

Team 4, my team:

C. Utley
M. Tejada
M. Ramirez
C. Crawford
C. Zambrano
R. Halladay

Team 5, a very smart & active trader --he had the misfortune of taking many of my "trade-up" trades when he was in the hunt and now there is a lot of parity on his team. I have no clue who he's going to pick:

V. Guerrero
I. Suzuki
B. J. Ryan
C. Delgado, D. Uggla, B. McCann, M. Young, C. Wang, J. Smoltz, J. Papelbon, B. Wagner, Jo. Johnson, K. Rogers, P. Martinez, B. Arroyo

Team 6, pretty smart and active manager:

V. Martinez
J. Morneau
D. Jeter
T. Hafner
B. Sheets, S. Rolen, J. Damon, R. Cano, T. Hoffman

Team 7, very smart manager & a waiver wire hawk (he said last year he wouldn't consider trading Liriano, but with him injured I'm unsure if he'll keep him):

A. Soriano
Jo. Santana
J. Nathan
V. Wells, P. Konerko, F. Liriano, A. Dunn, M. Rivera, B. Wickman

Team 8, a baseball news hound and decent manager --I have a feeling he'll keep Aramis and Schmidt:

R. Howard
G. Sizemore
B. Abreu
B. Webb
J. Schmidt, S. Kazmir, J. Giambi, T. Glaus, A. Ramirez
, M. Buehrle

Team 9, he traded his first two draft picks for improvements across the board and now I have no clue who his keepers will be:

J. Mauer
J. Thome
Jose Reyes
Ca. Lee
Ha. Ramirez, J. Peavy, C. Cordero, J. Putz, H. Street, A. Burnett, N. Swisher, M. Cuddyer, Ra. Johnson

Team 10, the league champ. Smart manager with an eye for value:

D. Ortiz
Mi. Cabrera
J. Dye
M. Holliday
C. Figgins
D. Willis, J. Bonderman, T. Saito, A. Otsuka, J. Lackey, G. Sheffield

I'm going to try to go closer, starter, hitter, starter, hitter, but that will all depend on what everyone does.
I appreciate any and all suggestions on my roster.

I really think that if Oswalt is available he is just to good to pass up no matter what your team looks like at that point

He will give you 18 W 3.00 ERA 1.10 WHIP and if Roy Halladay is injured he could be the 2nd or 3rd best pitcher in the mlb behind Jo Santana and Chris Carpeneter ((maybe Roy Halladay)). So I say it is a blessing if he falls to you and he should be your pick imo

Thanks to Alec03 for the awesome sig
