Yahoo is awful this year

Postby Homer_Jay » Sun Feb 18, 2007 1:37 am

Has anyone else tried to sign up for free Yahoo yet?

It is rediculous. They want you to basically pay $125 for a decent draft time. The "free" leagues are only offered weekday drafts between 8am and 2pm. Gee does anybody who plays fantasy baseball have a job? Maybe that's why they expect us to pay $125 for an evening or weekend draft.

I see a massive exodus to the new ESPN.

Any comments or insight to this?

Signed up for 4 leagues, nothing about days being blacked out or charges. If you set up a league set your draft later and then watch daily for Yahoo to add more times. They always do.

Sure you did not click on the Plus league setup?

I created a new league this morning on Yahoo! for a free private league. I set up the live on-line draft for 8pm on 3/27.

I just recieved confirmation for my new league and its telling me my draft is 3/27 at 5PM!!!

I went back to the Yahoo! commissioner's setting to double check this and my settings ARE at 8pm not 5pm.
wtf???

Yahoo does everything in PST ... there are your 3 hours. Check your note from them and see if it does not say 5pm PST.

I did sign up for a free private league. I have no idea why I can't get a decent time.

I signed up for a private league draft at 6:45 PM on March 4. I wanted it at 7:00 because that was what the league wanted, but there was 6:45 and not another until 10:30 PM. Today, I went back, and they had opened up more times. I could now do it at 7:00 PM. They are opening times up as they go. So, check back a little more often and see if you can find a time more agreeable to you like I did today. There was 8:00, 9:00...all those were open....

I ran into that last year, also in football. My guess is that they open up times in that manner just so that those who do the Plus leagues (which cost) have first crack at the start times they want.

I suspect they try to fill as many odd times up as possible first before opening new times. This way all the drafts aren't concentrated into a small band of times.

Kind of like how a parking lot will have you fill up a row of spaces before starting a new row, even if you get a space further away.
