Both Wood and Prior have potential but I don't get why people draft them every year?? They always just get hurt.

Wood looked fantastic in his one inning of work Monday. He retired the side in order, and struck out Jose Guillen to end his day, the Cubs' Web Site reports. Wood needed just 12 pitches, throwing eight of them for strikes. He was hitting 95 with his fastball, and his slider displayed its customary bite.

i don't know why that stuff is reported - i think that the writers would have learned by now to just say - 'Wood made it out of one inning without getting hurt' :-D

since Wood is in the pen, one inning is likely going to be what he'll be pitching this year... :-D

True, he should be a closer. I honestly believe that would make the cubs a legitimate threat. Wood can handle the pressure, I think Dempster in a setup role would do much better.

Oh he gets breaks, just way too many of them. Strains and tears too.

The worry about him being a closer is that he notoriously gets knocked around in the 1st inning as a starter, whether it's nerves, adrenaline or something else. Whether that would be same in a closer role, I don't know. He won't likely get a look as a closer early, but if Dempster has any troubles and Wood shows anything good, you'll see him in there sooner or later I believe.
