Seung-Yeop Lee - 1b - Free Agent Nov 8

On Saturday, Korean slugger Seung-Yeop Lee took his first step toward Major League Baseball, and according to a Korean source, he might soon be walking in Anaheim's direction.

Lee, 27, officially became a free agent Saturday and has drawn the interest of scouts for 10 big-league clubs.

He broke the asian record of 55 HR in a season set by Sadarahu Oh (sp?) this year. He's a strong 1B, has drawn comparisons to Palmeiro and David Justice with a little asian flair.

Going to be a big adjustment. I've read that the Korean league is about equal to high A-ball

He's willing to go with 1.5 to 2 million though. I'd take my chances on a high A-ball 1st basebman who hits 56 HR's in a season.

I wouldn't expect too much too soon. I have a lot more confidence in, say, a Kazuo Matsui being able to make an impact.

Lee might make an intriguing endgame pick, though...

Agreed, but if he'd hit .260 with 20-25 HR's in his first year, that's worth the 1.5 million or a $1, or $2 pick in the draft.
