How does Billingsley compare to the 2007 prospects crop?

I have the chance to obtain him for Billy Butler in a DYNASTY league , and just wondered how you would compare the two.

Thanks

p.s I am sure the other owner will check the Cafe also, so he owes me a beer for being the one to type all of this ;-D

For me it would depend on my needs and your scoring system. I think they are pretty equal. I might lean toward Bills because he is in the show now and I've seen him compete at the highest level and believe he can improve and become a solid #2 starter. Butler is still "just" a prospect, nothing more, nothing less.

So my answer would come down to one question. Which do you need more of? Pitching or offense?

I would take Butler, because as much as I like bills, I think Butler has the chance to put up Hafner type of numbers, while bills is more suited to be a #2 type of pitcher.

Butler is a very good prospect, but unless you are confident he can stay in the outfield (which i am not confident about) or have an opening at DH he is useless to you.

I've never seen Butler and useless in the same sentence before. KC will find a place for his bat to play, and he'll definitely play enough in the OF to at least qualify there.

That said, I would take Billingsley over Butler. Bills is a special pitcher. He had some rough spots last year and struggled with his command on the big stage but he's very young and exremely talented. He'll be a top-line starter for many years to come.

Even if he does turn out to be primarily a DH, I'm sure he will see 5 games started or 10 games played in OF every year to qualify. But yeah, KC will give him every oppurtinty to stick out there.
