Here's my advice for drafting minor leaguers: take the best player available. You just never know with prospects and by trying fill holes in your roster you may be passing up the true studs of the draft. I'm always going to take the guy who I think will develop into the best pro and then, if I have to, trade him for other help. It's not like your pitching staff is lights out without Hughes, and it's not like your hitting is total crap without drafting a bat there.
An argument
could be made that Butler is a better prospect then Hughes, especially if you are a slave to David Luciani's prospect lists. I don't make that argument. If I were you, I draft he best available prospect at #2, and that is Hughes on my list. (Actually I go Gordon, Young, Hughes, but you know what I mean.)
