I think Hernandez was fluke. He was insanely streaky and I dont think he will be able to repeat last years numbers. He will still hit 20 HR, which is great for a catcher, but I think the avg will be much lower
Here are his slash categories broken down monthly
OBP SLG AVG
APRIL .376 .458 .313
MAY .324 .495 .263
JUNE .343 .588 .278
JULY .241 .238 .188
AUGUST.338 .369 .262
SEPT-OCT .433 .688 .351
He started off hot and ended hot, but he really struggled during the middle of the season.
In regards to the rankings, I think you did a good job but I think Martin is a little high even though I like him too. Also, I would put Ianetta in the top 16.

I am on the Martin bandwagon, but I just can't justify taking him ahead of some other players. I would put him in the 6-8 range. I would move Hernandez and Johjima up.

Montero was not on the spreadsheet I have, and I just tweeked everything that was on there. I will be adding more players, and bump this thread sometime next month once my final rankings are done.

Hmm, perhaps perhaps. I vaguely recall Hernandez being banged up in the summer, complaining about something or other. That doesn't entirely excuse him for that severe drop off in the summer, but I still think he'll be pretty good. Better than standard, anyway.
I just used him as an example, really, to see if I could get some stats regarding Martin because that young guy was extremely touted according to cords' rankings. I'm not sure he'll beat 3-4 of those guys to warrant a #4 rating. We'll see...
Nice list. I like Martin. Lots of people forget that he finished the season ranked just below Top 10, and that was missing the entire first month. Add another month to his numbers last year, and he's knocking on Top 5 status.
I have one suggestion for change:
99. Burnt piece of day old toast.
100. Javy Lopez.
If Lopez finishes 2007 as one of the top 25 catchers in MINOR league baseball, I'll buy him dinner.
