Seattle while putting together a very good team has effectivly bootstrapped themselves.

They have added players at the break, they added Rey Sanchez this year and he friggin hit .300 after coming over, that still didn't matter because boone, ichiro, olerud, cirillo all sucked in the second half. (They made 2 trades last year too, so they did do something, just not the blockbuster take the monkey off my back trade the players are all asking for).

Plus, the mariners have a killer farm system for pitching, everyone knows that. I'm sure everyone is asking for one of the top 10 pitchers in the farm system, and its just asking to much. Would you give up Soriano just for the chance to stumble into the playoffs and get the yankee's in the ALDS?

Lastly, why the hell does boone, olerud, cameron, nelson all want big bucks then cry when ownership doesn't poney up thier cash when they need another bat to supplement thier performance? If the mariners took 10 million out of thier budget, then magicly came up with a few million when they really need it.

Ultimatly, the players are the ones that [edited by Madison] up. Asking for help through trades is a cop out.
