I agree that some laws and rules don't make sense but it is up to the players to abide by the rules, as stupid as they may or may not be. Betting on baseball and/or on your own team messes with the integrity of the game.
If I take a job and they say that is I get caught wearing black shoes, I will be fired, then I have a choice, no matter how dumb that is. I can either wear another color or I can be fired. Dumb rule but it's my choice. He had a choice. He could either bet on baseball or he could still be in the game. It was determined that he bet on baseball. No matter whether I agree or not, he made that choice.
Is there actually a rule that states that you can't bet on baseball if involved with baseball? And if so, does it clearly lay out what the punishments are for it? And BTW, this all depends IF he bet on baseball, which I still have my doubts about.

I have never been inside of a baseball lockerroom but there is supposed to be a sign in every one that states that if you bet on baseball, then you are banned for life. If not exactly, then something to that effect.

The sign is supposed to state the rule that I have listed above.

I've not actually seen the rules, but I'm told by reliable sources that ballplayers can't even play fantasy ball for fun. No prizes, money, or anything.
I'm also told that there's a sign in every locker room that states if you gamble, you're out for good.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

Not at all. Baseballs #1 rule, is no betting on bb. It's posted in every clubhouse. Once betting happens, the credibility and integrity of the game are lost. Then you have nothing.

Don't get me started on Peyton Manning's attempt to wear black shoes in the NFL...
(Ok, so that was completely off-topic... )
