He will be signed no doubt. The cubs/tribune isn't exactly out of money. Though the cubs may have played it wrong by waiting and watching all these other deals inflate Z's price. On local radio here, Jim Hendry has said in the past they will pay him what the market dictates. They know it isn't $11m obviously and thoughts have always been in the $14M area for 5+ years.

Plus with them raising tickeet prices $2 across the board for non-season ticket holders, they are of course gonna put that to good use, right? :-b

I'm a huge Yankees fan too, but what's your reason for being thrilled? The two I could see would be: (1) Now the Yankees might be able to throw some cash at him and sign him after the 2007 season, and/or (2) now another team is going to have close to the payroll of the Yanks and people can stop whining about our high payroll.
