This is also what I've heard but I don't see how we can know... how many games did he play at 1B last year? That usually determines his eligibility on Yahoo... something like 15-20 starts or something.

It's 10 GP or 5 GS. Ortiz has 10 starts.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

if someone offered me a pretty decent deal where I acquire pronk - I would not let having two UTIL players stop me from accepting the deal.

the idea of not having two UTIL players is supposed to allow you flexibility in the draft - but if you have to forego that to add a second round pick to your keeper list - then I am all for filling my UTIL spot with a stud.

This stinks with Hafner. :-t This is the first year I've owned him and him only being able to utility is going to be tough. Is there any chance he gets 1B eligability sometime during this year? Possibly during interleague play?

I don't see the position elibility as a big deal really. Hafner is probably the best or second best hitter on your team and you have to play him. Find room elsewhere when you are trying to play matchups or pickup steals. Its not really any different from first base in the sense that if you have Konerko you are almost always going to play him. Plus, during interleague play you will know when Hafner is sitting and adjust accordingly (most likely when the opposing starter is a lefty). I also think he will get the games needed to be eligible at 1st during interleague play. He was hurt during some of interleague games last year and thats why he doesn't have it this year.

I wouldn't put too much stock into this yet, but there could be hope!!

Hafner told the Akron Beacon Journal that he wants to play first base once a week this season. He played there only four times last season, partially because of elbow problems.

If Hafner is healthy during interleague play this season, then I don't see how the Indians could afford to not play him at first base.
