I know Crawford did not come into the bigs as a huge HR threat. I do not remember people talking about Griffey being a 40+ HR guy either back in 88-89.
I know it is a stretch but here are the starts of both players careers and I would like to here some feedbackon this. I personally see Crawford getting more powerful each year for a few years to come.
I love crawford but 25 homers is probally his celling.
the player that resembles a girffey type player right now is going to be delmon young.
crawford however has speed and power.
but 40 homeruns? no.
and griffey hit 16 22 22 27 45
crawford 11 15 18
i do not see a common trend and i honestly dont see it happening.

How much of a stretch is it to see Crawford getting to a 30/50 man? Where do you think his power ceiling is?
Hell no. Just look at the production at similar ages. When CC is 22, he's hitting 5 HRs while Griffy is at 27. When they're both 24, it'c CC 15, KGJ 40. No comparisson at all.

I cant see Crawford ever being able to hit 30 HR in a season, let alone 40 like Griffey. But, there is another guy on the D-Rays that has been drawing comparisons as a right handed version of Griffey Jr, and that is Delmon Young. He has a great mix of power and speed.

I don't see them being close to each other at all. Griff Jr. was a power guy who 'should' have broken the record. Crawford doesn't get any of that talk.

I'm a huge CC fan but I don't think he's comparable to Griffey. Griffey had much more raw HR power. He was hitting 45 HR at age 22. CC has not hit 20 at age 25. I also don't think their speed is comparable, as CC had 5 times as many SB as Griffey. They're just different players with different physical assets.
What Griffey's numbers do show, however, is that a big power spike around age 22-24 is possible, and that's what I think will happen for CC. I expect a spike to 25 and maybe even 30 HR sometime in the next few years.
CC had his best HR season to date -- despite reduced at-bats, a nagging wrist injury, and an increased ground-ball rate. If he can put everything together in 2007 or 2008, I think he's a strong candidate for 25 to 30 HR.
But 40 HR? Highly doubtful anytime soon unless he gets some of that Barry Bonds lemonade.
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.
Look at their swings.... griffey had that HR swings, crawford is a power slap swing (Damon-like). The will fluctate around the mid 20s the mid teens i would estimate. Interesting comp of Yaz though, but I don't buy it.
