A rejuvenated Bob Stanly will be entering ST as the guy. Thanks to TrimSpa and herbal supplements (legal ones) the man looks good for 62.

It will be Pineiro at the start. Something else that makes him the likely guy to get the ball in the 9th is the saves clause he has in his contract.

Joel Pinerio signed deal for 2007 season worth $4M on 1/4/07- + the deal includes a mutual option for 2008- + he can earn $2M in performance bonuses based on games finished in 2007- + the option becomes guaranteed with 35 games finished in 2007- + 2006 salary: $6.3M (+ $500K of signing bonus), 2005: $4.2M(+ $500K of signing bonus), 2004: $2.5M (+ $500K of signing bonus)

Dick Radtiz. He could probably do as well as Pinerio. Nah Slight edge to the big guy.I can't believe they start the season with anyone of the current memebers as the closer. I think WO Peno will be part of a deal to get somebody.

You know, thi sin quite insightful. But there is just one caveat. Runelvys also has the same language in his contract, which makes me throw up in my mouth thinking about him runnin gout from the 'pen in the ninth inning.....

personally, I would like to see Brendan Donnelly earn a chance to close. I think his demeanor, and nasty stuff would be a good fit fo rthe role.... but the $4mm sitting in Pineiro's bank account may have something to say about that.

In some seriousness, what does anybody know about the other Japanese pitcher (Okajima) the Sox signed? I know he's a reliever, but that's about it...
