Ruling On Injured Players

In our league we can keep players we draft who were on the DL all season without penalty (eg Pavano). One guy wants to change the rules because he has Liriano. Since Liriano played last season he would have to use a keeper slot. He's got a point in that, if he drops Liriano and someone picks him up, that owner can hold him indefinitely until he plays. Should we consider a rule change and are there any suggestions to keep owners from keeping an extra 10 guys just because they were injured at some point during the season?

Personally, I don't think someone should get to keep Liriano for "free". His owner needs to make a decision on whether or no he's worth wasting an '07 keeper spot on. If he decides no, then everyone gets a crack at him during the draft.

If anything maybe the rule change should be to eliminate that rule altogether (as in the no penalty)

but really just keep it as is
