According to the team's official site, Devil Rays manager Joe Maddon didn't give an official declaration that RP Seth McClung will be the closer this season, but gave a strong impression that he expects McClung to fill that role. "He had a difficult season last year, but he eventually learned how to be a closer," Maddon said. "He has the makeup to be successful in the role. He has a real calm on the mound." Maddon talked about the improvements McClung made towards the end of last season, in which the reliever went 4-2 with six saves. "You'll see the developments he's made in the offseason, and you'll be excited about his 95 to 98 mph fastball with a very good curveball," Maddon said.
