Which the 2003 back ups should have a starting role next season and make a significant impact.

I will lead things off with my home-towners.

San Francisco's 2003 Back Ups Who May Start in 2004

Pedro Feliz will likely find a way into the Giants starting lineup or he will be dealt and become a starter on another team. He has the potential to hit .300 with 25 home runs and 90 RBIs. I could see him hitting third and prospering for years to come, even though he blew his first shot at a starting role, two years ago when Russ Davis left the Giants.

Yovit Torrealba...we have already discussed his situation and upside in this post http://www.fantasybaseballcafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24851&start=0, but, quickly restated, he should be a huge sleeper catcher pick and could put up A.J. Pierzynski-like numbers.

Neifi Perez...I know he is never going to be as good as the Neifi who prospered in Colorado, but his defense could very well earn him the starting SS role for the Giants next season and he is at least someone to keep on your radar screen for an emergency back up.

Hopefully that is some helpful information for those of you who do not follow the Giants closely. Does anyone else care to share some home fan views along the same lines?[/b]

He wasn't exactly the backup, but Johnny Estrada of the Braves should have a big impact if Javy leaves. He was great in AAA.

alex escobar if he can crack the starting lineup, and probably will (hes a 5x5 beast in the making)

I don't know if I'd call Escobar a 5x5 beast, but he could be solid and a definae upgrade over Lawton.

I would just like to point out that I went to school with Pena. Dated a friend of mine for awhile. Hung out with him in the dorms. But, he was a BMOC, and he wouldn't know me. :-P
