Dye seems to get little respect for this season. I certainly agree that he is unlikely to duplicate his numbers from last season's career year. But IMO he is in little danger of contracting full-on Beltre Syndrome.
Took them right out of my mouth. I don't think his "fantasy" letdown will be quite as much as some of these other guys this year because he isn't getting drafted as high but he will be a huge disappointment in real life. He is 50 points over his career avg in his contract year!

I don't know about Beltre, but Dan Uggla gets my Peralta of the year award for a MI that is going to be drafted early and be worth replacement level in production.
As for Mathews, his Average will drop but the rest of his stats were more or less exactly the same as 2005, he just played full time.

I was thinking Soriano would be that player, but his lineup and ballpark will make up for some numbers he could have lost if he had signed in Washington again.

I consider Soriano as a wildcard. I didn't know what to think of him in 06 so I just kept quiet and stayed away. A lot of people thought park, lineup would just kill him but he flourished instead. In 05, he was a big disappointment considering he was in the most ideal situation considering park and lineup.
For 07, he seems like he is in another good situation with park/lineup. My guess is that he will fall a little bit from 06 and not enough to be a bust. Slightly disappointing the owners who expected his 06 level. But I still do not know which Soriano we will see.

even though he is a rookie.
people are giving him too much credit and taking him as early as round 5 in NON keeper leagues.
DICE-K. i see this guy stinking it up this year.
and if not him then i see Dye falling out and Uggla
The Beltre monster year in 04 and subsequent fall-off is a once in a century type of thing, literally. I agree with a lot of the names listed above, but what we are really talking about is say a Jorge Cantu 2006 level of fall-off, not something on the Beltre scale.
