My First Base Rankings
Tier 1
1. Albert Pujols $39.59
2. Ryan Howard $37.39
Tier 2
3. David Ortiz $34.57
4. Mark Teixera $32.60
5. Lance Berkman $31.08
Tier 3
6. Justin Morneau (didn't have his projected stats; just put where I thought he would end up at)
7. Derek Lee $29.84
8. Paul Konerko $29.33
9. Carlos Delgado $29.20
10. Todd Helton $29.14
Tier 4
11. Nick Swisher $27.05
12. Richie Sexson $26.62
Tier 5
13. Prince Fielder $25.54
14. Lyle Overbay $25.09
15. Ryan Shealy $24.96
16. Adam LaRoche $24.43
17. Mike Jacobs $24.34
Tier 6
18. Adrian Gonzalez $23.40
19. Conor Jackson $23.33
20. Ryan Garko $23.20
21. Nick Johnson $23.15
22. Jason Giambi $23.02
Tier 7
23. Nomar Garciaparra $20.38
24. Sean Casey $18.10
Okay, this is the first time making rankings based on projected stats. I used a dollar value to rank the players. These rankings are very nice for tiers. I realize that I have a few outliers such as Fielder and Gonzalez, but this is purely based on stats. Let me have it.

Well, if they're based on "projected" stats then it still boils down to opinion, doesn't it? (Unless they're strictly based on previous history.) Anyway, Helton was the one who jumped out at me, as well. After his last two seasons, he's solidly on my "do not draft" list. The other suggestions made so far are good adjustments, too.

The projected stats are from The Bill James Handbook. I played around with the coeffecients. The reason Giambi is so low is for a few reasons.
1. Giambi is projected to have 12 less runs than the average first baseman (77 compared to 89)
2. Giambi is projected to hit an average amount of home runs for a first baseman (30 HRs)
3. Giambi is projected to hit 9 less guys in than the average first baseman (91 compared to 100)
4. Giambi is projected to steal 2 less bases than the average first baseman (1 compared to 3)
5. Giambi is projected to hit for an average of .025 points lower than the average first baseman (.264 compared to .289)

I would make these adjustments
1. Ortiz to tier 1 behind howard
2. Helton down to Tier 4
3. Fielder to Tier 3 behind Konerko
4. Move Giambi up, but im not sure myself where I want to rank him but not that low.

Just curious -- what kind of numbers did you come up with for Helton?

I'd move Lee and Konerko ahead of Morneau, but I guess that's just personal preference.

Bill James has him at:
Runs/HR/RBI/SB/AVG
106/25/100/3/.322
