My Prediction, 5 years from now, that the Yankees will be stocked in the OF. and the pitching will suck.

BOSS EYEING SPOT FOR BOWDEN

October 30, 2003 -- YANKEE NOTES

George Steinbrenner doesn't need a GM because Brian Cashman isn't getting the ax.

But The Boss is trying to find something for former Reds GM Jim Bowden to do and is considering hiring Bowden to run the Yankees' minor-league system, the job that be- longs to VP Gordon Blakeley.

According to organizational sources, Steinbrenner isn't going to can Blakeley only because he doesn't want to eat almost $1 million Blakeley has coming over the next three years. Instead, Steinbrenner's plan is to make life so miserable for Blakeley that he quits, but that isn't going to happen.

Bowden, who worked for the Yankees in 1989 as an assistant to the VP of baseball operations, was fired by the Reds in July.
Yankee first base coach Lee Mazzilli interviews for the Orioles' manager job today in Baltimore. O's legend Eddie Murray remains the favorite.

Yankee VP Mark Newman, who was pushed aside for Blakeley last January, is waiting for permission from Steinbrenner to interview for the Mariners' vacant GM job. Mariners were waiting to see if The Boss foolishly fired Cashman before resuming their search

Sounds like they could be the new Rangers. All hit, no pitch. 8-o

George will never let it happen though.
Yes doctor, I am sick.
Sick of those who are spineless.
Sick of those who feel self-entitled.
Sick of those who are hypocrites.
Yes doctor, an army is forming.
Yes doctor, there will be a war.
Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

I'm afraid that George would explode if they didn't make the playoffs. Literally. Can you see Steinbrenner's head just popping off?

It won't happen, though. The Yanks will get to the postseason by hook or by crook.

Well, somebody has to fix their farm system so they can overhype prospects and trade them away.

I wish all owners were as competitive as George. Baseball would be better off.
