Turnbow update: Angels' reliever Derrick Turnbow was one of 30 professional players invited to play for the 2003 U.S. Olympic Qualifying Team this offseason and he is currently 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in three relief appearances against Arizona Fall League opponents.

However, Turnbow was not selected to Team USA's final 24-man squad, which will be competing at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics Baseball Qualifying Tournament in Panama City, Panama, from Oct. 30-Nov. 10. Turnbow will instead pitch in Puerto Rico, where he will work on "pitchability" by starting games.

I think working on his "pitchability" will help make him a better all around pitcher to help the team.
