It's a lot of money, but just look at the numbers. I mean they are almost guaranteed every year. I'm not a big fan of Manny's, but I do respect what he can and does at the plate.

Agreed. I mean Palmiero won a Gold Glove a few years ago playing like 30 games at first base.
Bill James has written about this. It was a statistical fluke, a remnant of the voting system. I don't remember the details, but it had something to do with vote-splitting, blah blah blah.
Gold gloves are voted by the mgrs who put no time or thought in it.
