Looks highly unlikely according to the most recent reports.

Agreed. I mean Palmiero won a Gold Glove a few years ago playing like 30 games at first base. :-/

With the economics of the game now, I would agree with you.

I remember that. As a Ranger fan I was shocked that Palmeiro got a gold glove that year. I agree that he shouldn't have won it.

I didn't expect anyone to jump just yet. I say around 10 or 11 o'clock Friday night. Right before the deadline.

The Boston Globe is reporting that the deadline is 1 P.M. today, and the team will be notified at 2 P.M. if someone has placed a claim.

Hmm.....That's odd. The articles that I've read, and one of them is posted in this thread, states that the deadline is midnight tonight. :-? Oh well, wait and see I guess.

Now I just read an article that says 1 PM today, like you said. Looks like no one is sure...........

Bill James has written about this. It was a statistical fluke, a remnant of the voting system. I don't remember the details, but it had something to do with vote-splitting, blah blah blah.

It's official: Manny wasn't claimed, according to the Globe.

I have to admit that I'm surprised by it. No one picked him up. I understood the reasons to, and the reasons not, but I really figured someone would jump at the opportunity.
