Although he is not technically a rookie, Shields trumped all of these guys (although I guess you could make an arguement for Billingsley). But regardless, it is meaningful and instructive that guys like Shields and Guthrie (and even Carmona since this is his first full season) outperformed Gallardo, Baily, Linecum and other products of the off-season hype machine. Even Brian Bannister has done better than some of these guys.
