Where do you see him being drafted? I'm kinda curious how you would see the catchers. Is piazza around 4 or 5 out of the catchers (aka Kendall range) or do you see him shooting up ahead of pudge, posada and Javy?
I would put him right at #4 this year, behind the three you mentioned. There is a big gap between him and Kendell though. I'm not big on taking catchers early, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get drafted in the first 4 rounds.
I would be reluctant to put Javy in that class. I know, I know, he had a record breaking year. But he's (I'm guessing) about 33 years old, and the record that he took (most home runs for a catcher) used to belong to Todd Hundly. I don't know. I didn't believe in Javy before the season started, he proved me wrong, but I still won't believe for next season.
why are people so down on Piazza for next season? He always been the number 1 C. and now the first full season when he could see 450-500 AB's ....Play 150+ games .... People are ranking Lieberthal and Lopez over him ... Oh how the mighty have fallen. I'll just smile....
can anybody guess who I might be targeting behind homeplate in '04?

Have fun. I think he's on his way down. I rank them:
Posada--#'s every year.
Pudge---a lot depends on where he's playing next year. If at Pro Player, he's #2.
Piazza---it's a risk, but the reward could be nice.

I've got catchers ranked similarly.
I'm hoping that this year I can grab a sleeper catcher late who will put up good numbers for me. Craig Wilson had 21 games at C this year, and may retain eligibility in some leagues (also depends on where he gets listed during spring training). Matt LeCroy had 22 games at C.
The last two years I've drafted Toby Hall in my keeper league. I hate the entire position.

I don't expect Javy to even come close to repeating. Sound like Loaiza Madison?
Yes, it does . I don't think Javy will repeat either, but I do think he will get closer than Loaiza will . Lmao!

I took a flyer on Hall in one of my leagues to use for trade bait had he done anything. I already had Pudge, so it was either my last or next to last pick of the draft. No risk really. Obviously, he didn't do anything. I dropped him about a month into the season.
