On PTI, Kornheiser posed the following question: Of Giambi, Soriano and Boone, which one is LEAST likely to be around next year?
Almost without hesitation, Gammons stated that he thinks Soriano WILL be gone, either packaged with Nick Johnson to Montreal for Vazquez and Vidro OR to KC for Beltran.
Starting to sound more and more like Soriano might not be in NY next season.
Gammons said on BBTN that NY's goals this offseason are:
Trade Johnson for a thirdbaseman, so Giambi can play first and Bernie can DH.
Move Boone to Second.
Move Soriano to Center
Sign Vlad or Sheff for right field.
But what gets me is that they they would have to sign Pettite, plus a couple more starters, plus get bullpen help. THat's a lot to do, wouldn't you say?
I'd like to see Vlad in RF, Beltran in CF- acquired in a deal with Soriano, Godzilla in LF, Boone at 2B, anyone at 3B, Giambi at 1B, Pettite resigned and Hawkins signed to help out the bullpen.

And that is why people hate the Yankees, blankman. You may have been kidding, but that is very much in the realm of possibility with the NY media market.

ok u said that would be a lot to do about signing and trading on their roster but they are the only team in baseball that has enough money to do that. they could easily have a lineup that looks like this next year.
posada
giambi
vidro
jeter
boone
godzilla
beltran
vlad
dh-bernie
and they could do this the blink of any eye then...
mussina
millwood
vazquez
odalis perez
and someone like pavano(just seems like georgy poorgie would do that)

Yes maybe that lineup, but not that rotation. I don't think even the Yankees have the money to go out and sign Millwood, and Vlad, not to mention the prospects to land both Beltran and Vazquez.
IMO, a more likely rotation will have:
Mussina
Pettite
Contreras
Leiber
and someone decent/ Weaver if they can't get rid of him

Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
