I feel like he really broke out this year. Is he going to be able to put up the same numbers next year? Are the Cards looking to resign Vina? If not Renteria might move up in the lineup. I think that this would hurt his value because he won't be able to knock in 100 again hitting in the one or two hole. What do you guys think?
The Cards aren't going to resign Vina. There is talk of him batting 1 or 2. That would really hurt his RBI numbers. Plus he would have to be much more patient batting leadoff. It is ok to swing at anything close with Matheny and the pitcher behind you but not at the top of the order.
I don't expect Renteria to move up in the lineup. People asked LaRussa all year why Renteria wasn't hitting 2nd and he always told them, 'I like him better in the 6 or 7 spot.' He has that 'clutch hitter' tag that LaRussa doesn't want to waste in the 2 spot.
that said, if Bo Hart and Miguel Cairo are opening day 1, 2 hitters, things might have to change.
If Renteria were to bat 1 or 2, look for his runs to offset his drop in RBI, but I would think his SBs would take a big hit. Which would be horrible for Renteria owners.
renteria at the top will have high average, and 10-20 homers with 30+ steals likely
renteria at the bottom will still have high average, 10-20 homers with around 80 rbis.
its all about what you want the most. but whos to say that edgar at the bottom wont still steal a boatload of bases? im interested to see where the place him. hell still be one of the top ss in the league.

He will steal less at the top of the order. Why steal in front of Pujols? It makes more sense to steal with Matheny or the pitcher coming to bat because they have a lesser chance of driving him in from 1st.
there is a chance edgar will move to the leadoff spot but i dont think it will happen. vina missed a lot of time last year and edgar still batted 7th most of the time. vina will not return. hopefully tino will get traded. if that happens i expect something along the lines of:
1)hart
2)drew/whoever plays when drew is hurt
3)pujols
4)edmonds
5)rolen
6)edgar
7)first base
8)catcher
9)pitcher
I would love to see Tino get traded but no one will touch that contract. The Cards will just have to ride it out. He only has one year left. I wouldn't mind Marrerro getting a chance to catch and bat leadoff but here is how I see it.
1. Hart 2b
2. Drew/Marrerro when Drew is hurt RF and he will be hurt
3. Pujols LF
4. Edmonds CF
5. Rolen 3rd
6. Tino 1b
7. Renteria SS
8. Matheny C
9. Pitcher

i have heard rumors, mostly from bored fans, that tino and cash might be sent to tampa bay (where he is from) or seattle (where he had a decent year or two) for a pitching machine or bucket of sunflower seeds. it probably wont happen, but i can dream...
I think Renteria will be a fine option for next year. You could do a lot worse.
