current ml pitcher to pitch a big playoff game? lessee. how anyone can say anything other than JOSH BECKETT right now. i dont know.
althought ANDY PETTITTE is also a fair argument.
JOHNSON AND SCHILLING could also be argued but theyre getting old

Rings dont make a player better.

STEVE, you call the best pitcher in bb a bum, yet in other threads you call people morons. You can't have it both ways.

Pettitte?? The same Pettitte that before this post season had a 4.49 post season era, and a 5.08 world series era.

well, if WS rings tell all, then Ted Williams and Tony Gwynn are worthless! better let go of ernie banks, too.

But my team will have big, bad, Lonnie Smith and Lean, Mean, Enrique Wilson!

Is that Sumerian? I've read it 10 times and I can't understand it.

Pedro's 2.85 ERA was the best ever?? :-? :-? It's like I'm on crack, only completely apperceptive.

i'm bitter because i called the pitcher that LOST to my team a bum?
and the pitcher that BEAT my team the #1 choice for current big-game pitcher?

i dont get it.

i'm giving the kid CREDIT for being good.

where is that bitter?

all the sox fans bash the yanks and their payroll.
all the cubs fans blame the curse and the fan.

i actually give credit to the team that played better and the pitcher who pitched an absolute gem of a game

and im bitter?

you guys confuse me sooooo much.

I am speaking of all your posts in general .... You seem bitter ..... lately. But I understand. If my teams only goal was to win the WS. and My team spent whatever it took to get to the WS, And then the players didn't show, I would be bitter too....

I gave ERA+, which takes into account park effects, and the league era average. Its much more accurate then standard era comparisions. Pedros 00 season he had a 1.74 era, compared to the league era of 4.97, for a era+ of 285, the highest era+ in history.

ERA+ means, the ratio of the leagues era (adjusted for the pitchers ballpark) to that of the pitcher. Think of 100 as the base. Above is better, below worse. lgERA/ERA
