I thought his job was safe after his masterful job in game seven of the ALCS (totally outcoached Grady).
But, with the way big George was stewing in Florida, will he can him? Perhaps after the Giambi and Soriano benchings? (I know one was injury, but no matter.) Plus, as Neyer wonderfully pointed out, how do you lose these two games without your best pitcher ever leaving the bullpen? (This is the idea behind James' no closer approach--he, nor did the Sox, ever talk about a bullpen by committee--you simply have a relief ace that you bring in at the most important time, no matter if that's the ninth innning of seventh.)
Anyway, would it make a difference if the Marlins take it in six or seven under this scenario?
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
If Torre leaves or is fired, and it's a big IF, I'm sure he will manage another team somewhere.

Why are you so sure? Didn't he say that the NY job would be his last?
And, I wonder what he'd be looking for? Perhaps some place to stick it to George, like Boston? Or even the Orioles, with less pressure. IT'd be very interesting.

Personally, I just don't think Torre is ready to call it quits and sit on a beach somewhere. He just doesn't seem done to me. Also, someone will throw enough money at him, for him to come back for at least a couple more years. That's IF he's availiable though.

George is the wildcard here because you never know what he's going to do. That said, Torre still has hero status in NY. There are 2 people associated with the Yankees that are at least semi-immune to his tantrums.......Torre and Jeter. When he picks on those 2, it doesn't last long because of who they are and how they react.
I would expect Torre to leave before he gets fired. I also expect this to be his last job. Not based on anything that he has said but just by looking at the information. He isn't old but also isn't a spring chicken. He also had health issues and has a young child at home.

someone brought up commish.... It might have been that ESPN special a couple of months ago. I don't remember. But based upon his contributions to the game, as a player, a player rep and even a manager for the evil empire ... I'd say he would make a great commish... He has the rare opportunity to see from bothsides of the picture having been there himself.
I say he leaves too ...But it won't be his last job.
